Something extraordinary happened this past month. After nearly one thousand written stories on Medium, I earned top writer status in creativity. So imagine my delight when I opened my email and read the news. What better way to feel validated?
I should let you know that I’m quite certain that it wasn’t a person who decided it, nor was it AI who read my stuff and anointed me a creative. I say this because it wasn’t based on my highest-achieving articles that brought me these accolades.
It may have to do with choosing the creativity tag on my stories more times than others and finally reaching a designated threshold. Still, I’ll take the win any way I can because being a top writer is a big deal, and it’s a title I can get used to. Or maybe I’m really that good. One can dream.
So, what’s next for me as I hold my head high and puff out my chest in all my glory?
I go where I haven’t yet gone before. I set my sights high, get my ass into gear, and write that book I’ve longed to write as part of my legacy. Not the children’s picture book I once thought it would be, but a mystery instead, which is fitting. I’ve never written one hundred and fifty-three short-form mini-chapters before intending to string them together to form a book.
But now I’ve done it, so here we are.
I am showing my inexperience in producing a completed manuscript. If only I’d majored in creative writing as opposed to psychology. Perhaps, my yearning to succeed as an author would come with an easier path.
It’s thanks to you I haven’t given up. I am eternally grateful for readers like you who have shown faith in me to achieve my dreams. It inspires me. I started this newsletter one year ago and never imagined I’d have so much fun relating with you by sharing my thoughts.
Today, I’m a top writer: tomorrow, an established novelist. You know, it could happen. With my series’ first draft completed, I’m already well on my way.
This month I’ve continued writing in Keeley Schroder’s February 28-day love challenge. Here are a couple of my entries from this and last month’s challenge for you to enjoy.
The most romantic gift I’ve ever received.
The strangest birthday present I’ve ever received.
While I enjoy writing both fiction and non-fiction, nothing would please me more than to gain more top-writer awards in different topics, like fiction or relationships.
I hope everyone had a Happy Valentine’s Day. However, you celebrated it.
See you in March, if not before.
Have you heard? You can now buy me a Ko-fi. There’s no obligation. I appreciate your support either way.
Congratulations Karen! Great job!
Thanks Karen!
